A Simple Gesture

The other day, I was at loblaws getting some groceries. I was standing in line, when a mother and her young daughter came to stand in line behind me. I overheard the daughter complaining that she had to go to the washroom, so I had turned around and told the mother that she could go ahead of me in line. At first she kept saying no, and felt bad. However, I convinced her that I was in no rush and that she could go ahead. She eventually went ahead and was very thankful and appreciated my kind gesture.
An act of kindness does not need to be about money or paying for things. Even though free things are always great! People really appreciate random kind gestures such as letting one go ahead of line, or holding the door open for someone. Those are effortless kind gestures that you can practice all the time without having to think about it.

Acts of Kindness from the Internet

Usually one will find funny memes or pictures online good for a laugh. Once and a while you'll see an uplifting post that restores your faith in humanity. Here is a link that showcases some of the posts I've found online. They're pretty great =)

Exam Time

This is the time of year where final projects, exams and final presentations are piling up. When stress is at its highest, the smallest things can make a difference.

While staying at the school until the wee hours of the morning, I plan on leaving a contact card on a couple vending machines and at the two Tim Horton's each with $2. This way, when some one needs that boost of energy, a nice surprise will be waiting.

Try to remember that it's not just YOU who is under pressure, and imagine how nice it would feel to have someone do a kind thing for you.

Happy studying!

Making Strangers Smile

This past new year I wanted to do something special for all those who couldn’t celebrate the new year the way I did. So I went and bought 2 bouquets of flowers and wrote 2 cards. I walked into the hospital, into the cancer ward and went up to a random nurse. I told her to give the 2 bouquets of flowers to whoever needs them most. She was so confused but I wished her a happy new year and left . To those people that received my bouquets of flowers at the hospital: I hope I made your new year special and most of all I hope I made you smile and gave you hope when you may have been losing it. This inspired me to go on with my random acts of kindness because I feel that it changes the world one step at a time.

Smile Cards Create Smiles!

These smile cards were made in order to start a movement. Every day my group will be conducting random acts of kindness to random people in hopes of inspiring people to do the same.

Think about it, If everyone in the world did one nice thing or helped one person every single day - that would be over 7 billion good acts done in a day, 49 billion a week, 196 billion per month!
All it takes is a couple minutes out of your day, a couple dollars out of your wallet, or even something as simple as a smile can change a life.

If you happen to land on this blog because you have experienced a random act of kindness in one way or another, please feel free to comment on your experience, and we hope we made your day a better one !

Hockey helping out the community

This past weekend in Mississauga two local hockey clubs took to the ice in an unusual match up.
the junior team faced off with their older senior club. but is was the coaches of the teams playing in this match.  This event was held in order to raise money for the Mississauga Hockey League Play-More program. The event helped raise $3,700 for kids who could not afford to play hockey.
Check out the play more website to help kids in our community play the game they love.
